The Back Bush Children Education Association would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to all who attended its second annual fundraiser. The event was held at the Goler Enrichment Center at 620 North Patterson Avenue in Winston Salem, NC on Saturday March 30th 2019. The second fundraiser event was a great success due to the contributions of about 150 plus individuals who were in attendance and those who contributed, but could not attend. The March 30th event raised about $5,500 of which will be used to continue the construction of the elementary school project that the association is undertaking in the Back Bush Community of Arthington, Liberia.

Our 150 plus guest that were in attendance were entertained upon their arrival by live cultural performances by the Ote’sha Creative Arts Ensemble led by Mr. Hashim Saleh. The group performed African dances and the sounds of Africa were heard through the drums.

The Master of Ceremony was Mr. Jessie (Jus 2 real) and he entertained the crowd with his hilarious sense of humor.

The evening was well organized and our guest were entertained with a colorful fashion show headed by Mrs. Jarvon Revis of “I am Vintage jewel” from Orlando, Florida. One of North Carolina’s well known disc jockey; Mr. Abu Kamara rocked the house with African and R&B music the entire evening. A variety of beautiful African clothing and arts were also on display for sale.

The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Francis Sio, Jr. founder of the Annie T. Doe Memorial Foundation in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Sio spoke on the theme “Giving Back.” He admonished the audience to always be ready to give back to those who are less fortunate than they are. He stressed that the needs of Liberian children are enormous and those who have should always be willing to help the needy so at the end we can have a society where everyone will have something to contribute.

The Back Bush Children Education Association is very grateful to the Goler Memorial AME Zion Church family, the Liberian Organization of the Piedmont (LOP), other Liberian Organizations that were present and all our family members from Florida, Minnesota and Georgia. We also want to thank our local community, family and friends who graced the event with their presence and financial support. The association members hold you in the highest esteem because your prayers, financial support, and encouragement have been the driving force that has kept the association dream alive. We ask God’s blessings on all of you and look forward to seeing you again at our third annual fundraising event on the 28th of March 2020 in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
