Approximately, $7,000 was raised at The Back Bush Children Education Association, first Annual Fundraising. The funds will be used for constructing the foundation of the Hill Academy in the Back Bush Community in the City of Arthington, Montserrado County, Liberia. The school when completed will provide free primary education to more than 200 plus under privileged children in this community.

The association is very grateful to all of the wonderful supporters who helped to make its first annual fundraiser a success. The Back Bush Children Education Association first annual fundraiser took place on Saturday, the 24th of March 2018 at the Odd Fellow Club House at 185 Park Ridge Circle, Winston Salem, NC 27104 with about 75 people in attendance. The association’s fundraiser aims and objectives were to solicit funds for the construction of the school and to increase public awareness of the many less fortunate children in Liberia. The First Fundraiser commenced with 30 minutes of meet and greets, video and slid show of the future students awaiting the construction of the elementary school.

After the meet and greet, the program started with welcome remarks from Ms. Romel A. Pearson and the invocation by Mrs. Varna Quaye. After singing the national anthems of the United States and Liberia, dinner was served. The second half of the event kicked off with a brief over view of the association by the Master of ceremony, Mr. Ralph A. Pearson Sr. The guest speaker of the day was introduced by Mrs. Comfort T. Pearson. The guest speaker, Dr. Frank Carver, Coordinator of Environmental Science & Technology Program at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Carver challenged those in attendance to look in the eyes of the yearning future leaders and help provide the necessary resources that will create a lasting opportunity for their growth and development. The attendees at the fundraiser were entertained by the Harmony Dancers of Greensboro, and Gerrica & Nia Watson Dance team from Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to the dances, a colorful Fashion Show coordinated by Mrs. Fanny Clarke of Winston Salem, North Carolina added more substance to the night. The audience participated in a special auction spearheaded by the Master of Ceremony displaying beautiful African attire, souvenirs highlighting the logo of the association.

We give thanks to the Lord for guiding this young association leading to the end of its first fundraising activities. We expressed our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of our sponsors, supporters, and guests for their financial and moral support and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2019.
